Such as dried fruit, caned foods? Whats the best foods to have for survival?
Also what's the best way to store water?
I would think canned foods; maybe the military dried food would be beneficial as well. I've heard to make sure a can opener is in the emergency kit too.
Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. Avoid using containers that will decompose or break, such as milk cartons or glass bottles. a normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water each day. Hot environments and intense physical activity can double that amount. Children, nursing mothers, and ill people will need more.
Store one gallon of water per person per day.
Keep at least a three-day supply of water per person (two quarts for drinking, two quarts for each person in your household for food preparation/sanitation).
This is a strange question, but canned soups, such as vegetable, canned meats, like tuna, chicken, and even spam, canned fruits and veggies, dried legumes, such as beans and lentils, you can keep rice for a long time as well. I would stay away from dried fruits, even though they have a long shelf life, they still can go bad. Twinkies are supposed to last through a nuclear blast, so have some of those too. If you want to store water, then I would purchase it in sealed bottles, because any container you put it in will still have bacteria in it.
Before Y2K I knew some people ordered a lot of dried beans and rice.
